The Bloomingburg Joint Fire District was formed on December 7, 1960. It comprises the Village of Bloomingburg, the Southeastern portion of the Town of Mamakating, Sullivan County and a section of the Town of Wallkill, Orange County. The first Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners was Joseph P. Lloyd.
In 1986 the Commissioners started a program of getting all the same fleet of trucks in the fire house. Since 1986 the Commissioners have purchased six Pierce trucks, at this time we have 4 of them in-service including a brand new 2010 Heavy Rescue.
In 2008 the tax payers approved for the district to build a new 15,300 sq. ft. fire house. The new firehouse has 5 bays (2 drive though), meeting room, laundry room, hazmat shower and offices for the officers, ladies aux., president and commissioners. The new firehouse was completed and the fire company moved in on July 2009.
With much success behind them, the Board of Fire Commissioners look forward to a continued future of satisfactory liaison between the Fire Company and the Fire District.
